For this post I wanted to highlight a few pairs of flat shoes I’m loving for transitional Fall weather, and some petite-friendly boots I’m looking forward to breaking out this season! Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
1. Neutral Ballet Flats – 5 colors!
I’m loving the comeback of ballet flats and the color on these is even more lovely in person. It’s a slightly deeper, richer tan in person and is a great neutral alternative to my black flats. I also love a patent leather cap toe since it’s easier for my clumsy self to keep clean and un-scuffed than a more delicate smooth leather. While I did need to wear these a few times to break them in, the quality is nice and at a glance they look quite similar to my Chanel ballet flats.
Here’s another glance at these flats on me from a top-down angle.
2. Petite Friendly Tall Black Boots
I got these boots a year ago and they’re one of my most stunning, petite-friendly slim fit black boots. The boots hit right below my knees and the shaft is a fairly close fit around my narrow calves. I went size 5.5 on these as the 5 was hard to remove, since the boot is pull-on style with no zipper.
These have a high 3.5″ + slim heel, however they also make the same boot with other heel options like a block heel. See how I’ve styled these boots with a blazer dress and with a simple little black dress.
For a flat black knee high boot, I haven’t yet tried but these boots look promising for petite customers with narrow calves! They’re listed to have a 14.5″ tall shaft and 13.5″ calf circumference.
3. Mary Jane Flats (similar style w/ elastic strap)
The Mary Jane is one of my favorite practical Fall trends. I love the sleek shape and thin strap on this pair, just note the leather is thinner and there isn’t much cushioning, so I added an insert for comfort.
Another black flat that I tried on and really liked is this Kenneth Cole pair that just went on sale! I had initially found them as a look-for-less for this Loeffler Randall pair on my wishlist. The Kenneth Cole flat also has a slender, flattering shape plus an elastic strap that’s easy to slip on and off compared to a buckle strap. I ultimately ended up buying the Open Edit pair since I personally like the narrow strap.
See how else I’ve styled flats like this with a blazer, with a slip skirt and with ’90s style jeans.
4. Chunky Loafers
These loafers were just restocked in several sizes and on temporary markdown! I know the chunky style look is not for everyone, but I love the little bit of edge they add to my simpler outfits. The reviews mentioned these ran a little big so I took a size 5 in these. See how else I’ve styled these loafers with a long sweater jacket, with a tweed jacket, with an oversized sweater and a striped tunic.
The chunky loafers take some breaking in, so for comfort, these non-platform Sam Edelman loafers cannot be beat and are still my go-to for longer periods of walking. I take a 5.5 in the Sam Edelman.
5. Petite-friendly Brown Tall Boots
I bought these boots earlier this year and am so happy with the petite-friendly fit on me, but be warned that they have very mixed reviews online. Some reviews say the calf is too slim and some say it’s too wide. I bought size 5.5 and you can see it’s a pretty good fit on me, so my hunch is the shaft size might increase disproportionately with each size. My size 5.5 pair measures: 13.25″ shaft height, and 14″ top circumference.
See how else I’d style these boots with a mini skirt or with leather leggings. PS – my oversized chunky knit sweater dress from last year is fully restocked and in a few other colors! I usually cuff the sleeves up once since they’re long on me.
