We can’t thank you guys enough again for all the thoughtful comments & messages about our marriage. We also loved reading the tidbits about your own wedding stories, both past and upcoming! I updated the post with some forgotten info, including details on my reception dress. And I’ll definitely work on a tutorial soon for the birdcage veil and beaded sash.
Today’s post is an autumn look I got to style for Talbots’ petites landing page (viewable only on desktop, not mobile). I went through their entire latest collection and picked out favorite pieces for the feature that I thought were good quality and versatile. Both this sweater and “ruana” wrap have 5-star reviews, except for one shopper which found the sweater to run small (was a good sign for me since Talbots sizing is usually generous).
The cream chunky sweater in a wool/cashmere blend fit me well in size petite P as a casual fit piece. It’s tunic length (I have the front half tucked in) so is long enough to cover the crotch when paired with leggings and boots as a cozy fall outfit. See photo below for how it looks un-tucked and from the back:
I had never heard of a ruana before this season and now see the term used all the time. Turns out it’s a Latin America-inspired outer garment in a poncho-like shape, with an opening for the head and slit down the front. Basically a wrap that is more shaped to be draped over your body versus a plain rectangle. This one is in a sweater material, and the feel of the material sets it apart from other wraps and scarves I own. The knit is tightly woven and smooth and cool to the touch, yet keeps you warm and comfortable. I’ve been glued to it on long drives and airplane rides, as you guys may have seen via Snapchat. It only comes in one size and is generous but I didn’t find it to be overwhelming.
I’m a longtime fan of Talbots shoes so was interested in trying their boots for the first time. They fit true to size (I’m wearing 5.5), however please note I found the leather to be on the stiff side, and I’m not sure if they will soften up with more wear.
Thank you to Talbots for sponsoring this post!
