Happy long weekend for those of you lucky enough to get Monday off! I’m currently in New Hampshire with family that’s visiting from China. Of course they wanted to see Fall foliage, but Boston leaves are not quite turning yet so we decided to head up north. Before heading out for a day of hiking tomorrow (wish me luck), I wanted to leave you guys with some of the best Columbus Day sales, below!

My picks: My duster cardigan in this blog post (see it on me again here), and more exciting, my cap-toe pumps!! They’re a good dupe for the timeless Chanel slingbacks, and can easily be styled for work or casual wear. My size had sold out quickly earlier this season, but Talbots just restocked. It’s surprisingly hard to find a classic pair of two-toned pumps, so snag these while you can! They are nice quality and run slightly on the narrow side – I’m usually between 5 and 5.5 and take the latter in Talbots shoes. The camel is a little darker than my photos show.
Macy’s

My picks: Can’t get enough of bow-tie sleeves lately! Some of you might’ve seen this bow cuff blouse on my IG stories – it’s a great basic drapey blouse with a little extra something. Note you’ll have to tie the bows pretty tight (maybe even double-tied) so they don’t fall out. I also tried on this sweater below, which has similar sleeve detailing. It’s 95% wool, 5% cashmere so is a little itchy against bare skin, but I have AT sweaters from the past in the same composition which soften up with wash & wear. The tunic length is long enough to cover the crotch when paired with leggings!
This is a thick and warm “coatigan” sweater jacket, with convenient side seam pockets. Fit is slightly oversized and the sleeves are a little long on me, even in petite. You can’t tell in the above photo, but there’s a beige color lining the inner of the shawl collar.
EXPRESS

My picks: knits knits knits! A lot of their current knits are oversized, but if you go online, you can find extended sizing such as xxs regular or petites sizing (see my recent Express petites blog post). One oversized piece that I really loved was this slouchy balloon sleeve sweater (below left) in a cozy chenille knit! The slightly shorter length is great for half-tucking into higher waisted bottoms. Will be ordering the xxs online.
- Roll neck cover up – a thinner, lighter-weight draped cardigan in petite or regular (size XS petite fits me)
- Heavier winter coats in petites and regular, including a belted down puffer coat in 2 colors or a wool-blend belted trench coat
- High waisted A-line skirt – Nice quality and lined; medium-weight fabric is wrinkle-resistant (see it on me). Size 00 measures 26″ around the waist.
J.Crew

My picks: This doesn’t really count as a pick because I just realized cashmere is excluded, but I wanted to point out the slouchy V-neck sweater on the below right! I tried on regular XS in store, and although I liked the soft 100% cashmere and casual chic cut, I thought the fit was much too roomy. Thankfully it comes in up to two sizes smaller online (down to an xxx-small … dang, J.Crew and its vanity sizing), so keep this one in mind during a future sale when it’s not excluded!
LOFT
