Everlane has been one of my favorite brands to work with – they make it easy for me to try on their whole range of styles for fit and fabric feel (to hopefully save you guys some time) and feature a select few of my choice. They are also taking on great initiatives like using more eco-friendly, innovative materials like with their ReNew outerwear that I got several questions on!
Re Cashmere Sweaters
These are made of a 60% recycled cashmere and 40% merino wool blend (Update: 2020 version is now 100% cashmere!). Compared to Everlane’s other cashmere sweaters, these are warmer and thicker in weight with texture throughout and a wide ribbed hem. The fit of an xxs on me is slouchy but not too oversized, with dolman-style sleeves. I have not had issues with pilling on mine after several wears.
ReNew Military parka (also in a BOMBER CUT)
I tried on their Military parka style and would never guess these coats are made of 99% recycled materials. There are two reviews so far by fellow 5 feet tall ladies with conflicting thoughts on sizing, and mine falls somewhere in the middle. My first impression was this is a heavy duty, warm winter-weight coat. It could potentially work on someone my height if you like an oversized fit, but would be more ideal on someone 2″ taller. It’s too bad Everlane doesn’t make petites yet (fingers crossed for down the road) because there are several nifty, functional features in this coat:
- Water-resistant outer made from recycled bottles and PrimaLoft insulation (recommended for 10-40 degree F temps)
- Excellent adjustable hood. Has a small strap to adjust the depth of the hood, a drawstring around the face, and a “duckbill” flap that flips out to frame your face and keep precipitation from dripping onto it.
- Very deep, large front pockets, hand warmer pockets above those, and an inner snap pocket that fits a cell phone.
- Drawstring along the inner back so you can pull it for a more nipped-in shape (see below right pic)
They also make a line of Re:Down coats using recycled & sterilized down that I haven’t tried yet – if you have, please share about the fit!
I posted about these cheeky straight jeans last time and think they’re a great alternative to skinnies or wide leg denim. On me, the fitted high rise is key for balancing out a slightly looser cut leg, and when cuffed up they basically feel like more refined slim boyfriend jeans. I didn’t get a shot of the back but the pocket placement and angling there is actually very flattering and visually “lifts” the derriere!
See my previous post for 2 more Everlane knits I love at a lower price point (this $50 cotton mockneck is very comfy against the skin remains one of my favorite layering pieces), and their washable silk blouse in the most petite-friendly cut! Just got this comment from a reader Ann and wanted to pass it along: “I ordered the silk blouse with the ties at the wrist and you are so right. What would be 3/4 length on a tall person is perfect for me! Love it, thank you so much for the recommendation. I went with the 0, am 5 feet, 108 lbs, 55 yrs. It is perfect for the office tucked in or out with tailored pants or jeans and a pretty necklace. It has a nice heavier drape and soft texture.”
Thank you to Everlane for partnering on this post.
