This past weekend, we were back in Houston celebrating one of my close friends and her traveling tea party business! There were several babies in attendance at this friends & family event, so Nori also put on her Sunday best for our mommy and me look, and even broke out her mini fascinator hat for a whole 30 seconds ; )
It’s in the mid 80s already in Houston, so I picked out this versatile and lightweight floral print shirt dress from Banana Republic – it’s currently on sale with code STYLE for 40% off your purchase! The sale also includes this satiny blush dress (soft and romantic for a wedding!) that I reviewed in this post, and this striped sleeved maxi dress that I showed in this post.
This floral print dress features a button down front, pockets (!), and a sash belt to accentuate the waist. Shirt dresses like this make a great office piece styled with either a cropped blazer or colorful cardigan, or you can even try a tee layered underneath to add some sleeve coverage. For a party or a shower (or I could see this as a variation on all white for a bridal shower!), I’d dress it up with heels and pearls. I also wore this dress casually on our trip with a denim jacket and low slide sandals, as shown below!
Fit-wise, I agree with several reviewers about this dress running narrow across the chest. I sized up for a more comfortable fit in the bodice, especially as I planned on nursing in this. The skirt has a gentle flare to it and a size 0P hits 2” above the knees on me (for reference, I’m 5’ tall). The dress is nice quality in a woven textured fabric, and a full lining so you don’t have to worry about sheerness.
I also just saw Banana Republic came out with “True Hues” wardrobe staples like shoes and camisoles in a whole array of skin-toned shades! As a hoarder of flattering “nude” shoe and undergarments, I love this concept since nude is never a one size fits all color.
Thank you to Banana Republic for partnering on this post.
