Sweater dresses are the perfect cool weather staple for when you want to be cozy while still looking chic and feminine. Fitted knit dresses tend to accentuate my lower belly, while straighter-cut shift dresses are more comfortable for me and easy to throw on. I’ve found the key to pulling off a shift dress when petite is to look for a mini length to balance out the looser cut.
I’m partnering with Nordstrom to share this petite-friendly sweater dress find, and how to pair it with 3 different types of shoes. You guys will have to let me know which option is your favorite!
Ribbed Sweater Dress
In four colors
It’s very hard to alter sweater dresses, so I was happy to see this one is very petite friendly in length and flattering even with sneakers and flat shoes! I did cuff up the gently flaring sleeves several inches, but the cuff is so tall that it looks like the intentionally cuffed sweater dresses that I’ve seen around at stores. It’s an oversized fit through the torso, and is a warm chunky ribbed knit (not thin).
1. Everyday Chic: Chelsea Boots (current version)
My Caslon boots have been a casual favorite over the last few of years. The platform style adds a little edge to outfits, and the waterproof feature is very practical for Boston weather! Pair them with black tights or bottoms with tall black socks for a continuous elongating effect. Sizing starts in 4. See some of the ways I’ve styled these boots here, here and here.
2. Dress it up: Tall Boots
I picked up the exact Nine West boots pictured below a few seasons ago, but found a few similar styles that are currently available. I’ve been eying the Schutz Maryanna tall boots since last year and finally placed an order and are very excited to try them!
3. Dress it down: Sneakers
If it’s not too cold out, white leather sneakers are an easy way to dress down a sweater dress for an effortless casual look. I’m wearing the V-10 style here (last styled here with trousers), but if you’re debating a first pair, I find the Campo style to be their most comfortable style. My V-10s in a size 35 are comfortable only when I add my heel lift inserts, since I have low ankles.
Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
<3 the outfits! Do you know the name of the color of the YSL Kate WOC? (Blanc Vintage, Dark Beige, Powder / New Powder, Crema Soft?)
Sorry I purchased it in store a few years ago and don’t have the color info!
Outfit 2 with the tall boots is fire.
Thank you, I love that one too!
Love the monochromatic beige with the tall boot and sweater dress! Still on the lookout for a similar turtleneck sweater dress that is 100% wool unfortunately!
Thank you, K!
