Special Occasion Attire under $50
I’m a dress girl through and through, but there’s something so effortless (literally) yet chic about a one-piece jumpsuit for special occasions. I can see this for a nice dinner, for going out, and also for weddings or cocktail attire parties. Yes, you’ll need to spend extra time in the restroom, but well worth it in my opinion. Macy’s is having a sale right now on top of the affordable retail price – how often can you find an elegant, well-fitting special occasion piece for under $50?!
Design Options
There are few necklines that are more universally flattering than the faux-wrap “surplice” style. This one has a small clasp closure so you can make sure not to reveal too much (I’m wearing it un-clasped here to show a little more décolletage). The sash tie belt helps cinch the waist, and I can’t forget about the best feature … pockets!! The material is a stretchy, un-lined knit polyester/spandex blend. It’s not high quality, but pretty fair in my opinion for the price point.
I love that this jumpsuit comes in so many different sleeve options (like this 3/4 length sleeve one), and other colors! 4 out of these 5 other colors are still available in sz XS petite and up:
Sizing and Fit
The petite sizing runs a little on the short side in the torso, in my opinion. I’m wearing a Petite XS and the crotch hits at the right spot on me, but would be too short if my torso were any longer. The pant length works on me with low heels, but a little short when worn with my preferred 3 to 4″ high heels.
For fit reference, I’m 5 feet tall with a leg inseam measurement of 27.” If you have a longer torso or inseam than me, then I’d suggest trying a size up or trying regular sizing. My cousin who is the exact same height as me (but with a longer torso) found XSP to be a little short in the torso.
Measurements of Petite XS: 29″ pant inseam, 51″ total length, and 26.5″ when measured from the top of the shoulder to the crotch (compare this against your body for fit reference). The elasticized waist is 12″ across when lying flat, and stretches to about 15″ across.
