I’ve always loved pieces in classic camel and shades of tan, but can’t say I’m usually excited by plain old “brown.” Well regular brown is having a moment this season, and I’m admittedly loving its earthy feel like with this sweater and how it brings out my deeper lipcolors. Below, I rounded up a few pieces in various shades of brown & black that have gotten a ton of mileage in my wardrobe!
1. T&B ankle booties (6 colors; runs half size small)
Compared to booties that hit at the ankle, I sometimes find higher shafts to look a little more elongating against petite legs. These T&B booties from Nordstrom are a similar option for my most worn (but long sold out) Sam Edelman boots.
The quality of the T&B is not as good as my SEs (I would prefer the ankle opening to be more reinforced), but the overall look is quite similar. They have been comfortable so far with no breaking in needed, and they come in a rainbow of neutral suede options. The Black or Chocolate colors are close dupes for my SEs (I like how the Chocolate has a darker sole and heel for less contrast), and those would actually pair better with my outfit here as well as with black tights or leggings. The Cognac however is the closest match to my skin tone, if you intend on wearing these mostly with bare legs.
2. Dolman ribbed tee (4 colors)
See on me last year in xxs. This has been one of my default tops to wear half-tucked with jeans and a waist belt. I first got it last fall in a brighter pumpkin, and liked it so much I ended up getting a second amongst the new colors (brown won out but black was a close second)! This is a cozy, fleeced but lightweight ribbed tee that tucks and drapes in all the right places on me. The sleeves are a looser dolman fit at the upper arms, and narrow down into a slender fit by the sleeve cuffs so you can push the sleeves up and they won’t slide down
3. Knit blazer (6 colors)
Another old favorite that I have in two colors! This is basically a comfortable sweatshirt blazer, made of a medium-thick weight knit fabric featuring a patterned lining. The petites sizing fits nice and slim through the torso and sleeve width. Knit material also works great for travel – see this same blazer in white make a few appearances in my travel outfits styling video. I have my fingers crossed for a future camel color!
4. Sleek, squared sunglasses (4 colors, including a brown tortoise print)
These are hands down my most worn pair of sunglasses this year, and a universally flattering one at that. I’ve lost count of friends who tried mine on then ordered immediately afterwards! These are an excellent value (Nordstrom will match lower prices around the web), and fit my nose bridge and face a little better than my much pricier version from Celine. If you missed the tip I reposted on IG stories on how to remove the pesky white logo on the lens, a cotton swab and some nail polish remover works like a charm.
Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
