I’ve enjoyed sharing these “week of outfits” reels and have had several requests to do one featuring flat shoes! Today’s post (see the video on IG) is a compilation of practical and comfortable looks I’ve worn recently, all with flats. If you’re just building out your shoe collection, my two must-have styles for a capsule wardrobe are a pair of sleek nude flats and classic black loafers – almost any outfit can work with one of these two shoe styles!
1. Tunic Sweater + Slim Trousers + Loafers
My favorite outfit amongst the bunch composed of all wardrobe foundation pieces! This is the oversized knit I mentioned recently in this post on a few Mango staples. The fit of these WHBM stretch pants is everything I want in a slim black pant, and I wear these loafers so much dressed down with leggings and jeans.
2. Monochrome Sweater + Pleated Skirt + Nude Flats
Striped Top + Knit Skirt with Nude Flats
Chunky Cardigan + Ankle Pants + Neutral Mules
5. Boyfriend Blazer + Shell + Slim Straight Jeans + Pointy Flats
If you don’t own this sleeveless shell yet, it’s one of my most-worn pieces for throwing on beneath a cardigan or blazer. The back is a knit jersey so it’s very comfortable while the front is made of a dressier fabric.
I wouldn’t do distressed jeans for a traditional office, even on denim Fridays, but I’ve worn this outfit for an informal meeting where I wanted to feel just a lil’ more pulled together. I’ve heard from so many of you over the past two weeks how much you LOVE these jeans as well after trying this brand for the first time! Really wish they’d make them in a non-distressed wash, too.
Hi Jean – do you have a black pants reco for my skinny petite daughter? 5’0”; she is 85 lb looking for high rise. Thanks
Hi Shirley! The J.Crew Cameron or J.Crew Factory Ruby might be the closest fit but both are likely still too large at the waist and she may need to do waist alterations.
Yes! More of these please. I am finding that the office dress code is leaning this direction. Sometimes I feel overdressed in heels!
I’m so glad you found this helpful, Debbie!
Hi Jean!!
I see a new skirt is coming?!?! So excited, it looks beautiful! I’m loving everything white this spring, paired with neutrals and pastels. It’s been cold here, so am still loving long cardigan sweaters with all white jeans & camis. I’d love to find a pretty patterned long cardigan to wear with my solids. Love the neutral flats too – you look great as usual and the little guy is growing like a weed! Hope all is well in Boston 🙂
Hi April, good spotting! We’re hoping to have the new skirt ready to launch before June. Hope all is well with you xx
Hey Jean, love your blog! I’m a long time reader. Could you please do a post about styling tights in warmer/Spring weather? I need to wear them for work and I’m looking for ideas now that Spring is here… Thank you so much!
-Marissa
Hi Marissa, thank you so much for following along over the years! To be honest I haven’t worn tights in a very long time so I’m afraid I can’t be much help here!
Such a beautiful outfits, they look good on you and the fit is perfect. But I personally love the third photo, striped top paired with beautiful knit skirt, it’s a perfect combination and you look so gorgeous in that outfit. Love it.<3
