The Nsale is ending this Sunday 8/6, and I wanted to share some Fall outfit formulas with sale pieces I’ve recommended! These feature staple sale purchases from prior years like my leggings and leather jacket, mixed and matched with a few new finds. While I’m not wishing summer away just yet, some of these combos have me looking forward to a new season! P.S. You can refer to this folder in my LTK page that has all my try-ons from the sale with fit info. Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering on this post.
1. Chocolate ankle boots – fully stocked
These have great reviews, and I found them to fit TTS and comfortable off the bat from my try-on. If you’re wondering what style boots to wear with straight jeans and pants come Fall-Winter, these are a great option. The shaft is slim enough to fit inside leg openings, and the small stacked heel barely feels like a heel. I may not keep these because I have a similar pair from years ago, but wanted to share as a currently stocked alternative.
2. Levi Wedgie Jeans – fully stocked
Blazer, tee, jeans + booties are going to be a formula on repeat for me this Fall. I love the vintage blue non-stretch denim, the high rise and the rear “lift” of Levi’s Wedgie cut jeans. The straight leg looks great with all sorts of shoes, from sneakers to loafers to booties, as shown in this post.
These are long on me at full length (see pic here), so I’ll either be cutting them or keep doing my folding trick. Here are my tutorials for cutting denim and temporarily folding denim.
3. Platform Loafers
Simple switch up here with the same jeans, with a moto jacket and chunkier shoes. These loafers are also super cute with slim pants and a plaid boyfriend blazer for work!
I love the look and found them to be comfier than several other platform loafers I’ve tried (tho did take a little breaking in). I’m usually between 5 or 5.5, and the 5 fit me with my no-show socks, so for me, they’re at most maybe half size big.
4. Allsaints Dalby Jacket
Still a few sizes left in this timeless, high quality leather jacket at the sale price of $170 off. The length is slightly longer than the cropped style that I found to be super flattering on petites. Sizing runs small and a 00 is fitted on me all around.
5. Commando Leather Leggings – fully stocked
My Commando leggings are a favorite purchase from a prior NSale and add a little edge to everyday cool weather outfits, whether it’s with boots, sneakers or loafers. I have their 7/8 length in regular sizing, and do find them to run small. XS is a tight fit on me with high rise holding power, and if you want to adjust them to fit shorter in length, the hems fold under super easily and will stay put all day.
6. Steve Madden Knee High Suede Boots – 3 colors
I wanted to show this same outfit just with the shoes and bag switched out, for two easy Fall outfit formulas.
See my video which shows the fit of these boots, one of my favorite buys from this year’s sale. I did want to point out there are some very mixed reviews tho online! Since I bought size 5.5 and some of the reviews are for other sizes, my hunch is the shaft size increases disproportionately with each size. Size 5.5 measures: 13.25″ shaft height, and 14″ top circumference.
Another easy outfit formula with these boots is a short *or* midi length skirt (think either solid, plaid, denim or leather texture). If going short, I’d pair with a looser sweater and if going midi length, I’d do a fitted top tucked in.
7. $15 Sunglasses
These aren’t on sale, but a bargain for sunglasses that have served me well for several seasons now! They don’t slip down my lower flat nose bridge, and are nice and lightweight. I love them so much, I bought both colors to go with my black and softer neutral toned looks.
what are your thoughts on the jw pei bag? I don’t think you posted a review of it but I was thinking of picking it up in black croc!
I like it! For someone very short, it fits me comfortably as a crossbody, doesn’t dig in due to the wider strap, and has a roomy inner capacity.
I love your selective recommendation and the fact you mentioned which item you will keep. These outfits are practical & cute.
Thank you, Kate!
I love the look of the Levi jeans. I am 5’1 and usually 26 fit but depending on style can be snug. I would go with 27 for a more relaxed fit but wonder if they stretch out too much. Also do they shrink.
Hi Joanne, they don’t really shrink for me! They stretch a little more with wear through the day so your usual size might work. I was in between sizes, and just wanted a little more room at the thighs.
