Last Fall I was inundated with ads for Sheertex, the “impossibly resilient” tights that don’t rip. I loathe having to replace tights due to tears, so was an easy target and quickly placed an order for their Classic Sheer Rip Resist Tights. After wearing mine regularly for the past 2 months, I wanted to share a review with pros and cons from my experience!

About Sheertex, Ordering & Shipping
From their FAQ: Sheertex tights are made of their own proprietary knit, containing a type of polymer traditionally used in bulletproof vests, sailing and mountain climbing equipment. This knit is developed to be strong, cooling, lightweight, and water resistant.
The company is based in Montreal, Canada (where the tights are knit and manufactured), and my order with standard shipping took just 1 week to be delivered. Not bad at all for an international order.
While the retail price is fairly high for a pair of tights, they’re almost always running some kind of sale on their best selling styles.
Pros
- As advertised, they have NOT ripped. At least for me. I’ve tried gouging at these with my fingernails, engagement ring, and even scissors (not recommended by the brand) but the Sheertex tights prevailed rip-free.
- Comfortable control top and fit. Love how the top part of the Classic Sheer has a lightweight level of control. The wide, flat waistband is very comfortable for me and provides slight shaping. The overall length of XS on me did not have a lot of excess bunching at the feet like some other brands do.
- Machine washable. I’ve been machine washing mine cold in the gentle cycle with my usual loads, then air drying.
Considerations
- Not as sheer as I expected. The classic sheer does not appear to be nearly as sheer on me as the model photos. For fit reference I’m about 5 feet tall, 98lb and am someone 1 size up would probably fill out the XS better for a sheer look. But if you’re similar in size and want more opaque tights with a hint of sheerness, then these will suit you.
- For this reason, if you’re debating between two sizes, I’d consider how sheer you want the tights to appear on your body. Size down for more sheer, and size up for less sheer. Keep in mind that the length will probably also increase with each size.
- My Classic Sheer tights arrived in a package marked 30 den – “denier” relates to tights density, and the lower the # the more sheer. They recently just restocked their Ultra Sheer which I’m eying, but it’s pretty pricey at full price.
- On each product page under the Performance Rating section there is an opacity scale, and it seems there should be an option between Classic Sheer and Ultra Sheer that’s probably what I need. I also ordered the Semi Opaque and those were completely opaque on me.
- Not intended to keep you warm. I think this one is common sense as sheer tights can’t possibly provide much insulation, but putting this out there just in case. For warm winter tights, you’d need to go fleece lined and opaque.
- I have these viral “fake sheer” fleece lined tights in Small / Medium (they’re basically just a beige fleece lined tight with a black coloring overlay on top), and these black fleece lined tights in Petite.

- They still get pulls. While they don’t rip, they definitely do get “pulls” still as seen on the below left thigh. Sheertex suggests massaging these out, but I haven’t had success.
Verdict
Would purchase again. Although I was hoping for more sheerness, I’m happy with this buy and like that I can wear them with confidence and not have to replace my tights due to damage. I wore only my Sheertex tights throughout the holiday season, especially to house parties when I didn’t want to worry about little fingernails, pets paws, or jewelry ripping my tights. I’ll be keeping an eye out for a slightly more sheer version to try next!
