Happy Friday, friends! I’m wrapping up a trip to LA visiting my dear grandparents and soaking up the beautiful weather. I recently picked out some new arrivals c/o Ann Taylor for an Instagram project and wanted to highlight a few finds I loved! They’re having a pants promo today with $30 off pants and jeans with code PANTS30.
Striped Henley Sweater
This was an immediate favorite that earned a limited spot in my carry on suitcase for the week in LA. No surprise, as it’s reminiscent of my popular Sezane Leontine sweater but in a lighter weight knit. The Sezane sweater is a solid, timeless choice you can’t go wrong with and is made of a medium weight organic cotton. The AT version is made of regular cotton in a slightly looser “mesh stitch” style knit.
I can see myself reaching for this into warmer weather as a summer / beach sweater thrown on over shorts or linen pants. And here’s how it looks paired with a looser relaxed pant versus cream ankle jeans:
A note on these camel wide leg trousers – they are the closest option I’ve found this year to a beautiful pair of drapey light brown dress pants I had years ago. I found the waist to run big on these, though, so need to use my little hack shared last week. The overall cut is also on the looser relaxed side, but they do create flattering long lines. Also, I prefer how they look without the sash tie belt – the look feels cleaner with either nothing, or just a waist belt.
Cream Trouser Jeans
Highly recommend these if you’re looking to diversify your denim collection. I love the color and the cut is SO flattering and different from my closet full of straight and old skinny jeans. They work well with a range of tops including cropped jacket and fitted sweaters and tops, as seen in my recent workwear post.
The 00 petite on these jeans measures 12.25″ across the waist, 11″ rise, 28” inseam. This shorter inseam allows me to pair them with mid heel booties as well lower kitten heels. I do want to note that the rise is higher than most Ann Taylor bottoms, and only for those who like something pretty high rise.
Cream Straight Jeans
These are the same color and denim material as the trouser jean, but in a straight leg and slightly cropped length. They remind me a lot of my beloved Everlane straight jeans in Ecru but in a shorter length if you found the Everlanes to be too long! The 00 petite on these measures 13″ across the waist, 9.5″ rise, 24″ inseam, so fits a little bigger in the waist than the trouser jeans.
Trench Coat
This same trench coat is available in both khaki and a pretty blue, and I’m on the fence about this one. It runs a little big in my opinion and is a thicker weight, structured style trench if that’s what you’re looking for. Personally I prefer lighter weight drape trenches, but wanted to mention this one since there’s not a lot of trenches in general in petite sizing. Compared to the J.Crew Icon trench coat in xxs petite (see on me), it is a longer length and a slightly looser fit.
Hi Jean! what shade is your numero un polene bag? thanks!
Hi Lee! The one shown in these photos is the No. 1 in trio sand, I also have the No. 1 nano in chalk. It’s such a lovely bag design!
Hi Jean. I missed your ann taylor posts!! Love the lighter color striped top. I passed on the sezane version before because of the price but may scoop this one up! Question for you on the Brics suitcase – did you get the older ‘grey’ color or the exact ‘silver’ one in the link? Thank you 🙂
Thank you, Kathryn! It’s hard to tell via photos but I got my Brics suitcase several years ago, so it may be an older color
Love the outfits. How do you like the cute striped jacket?
Thank you! I forgot to write about the jacket in the post, but it’s a nice quality nautical feel jacket with good texture and full lining. The length is good but the overall fit and sleeve fit is on the boxy side. I would want to slim the sleeves down a little to make it feel a little more sleek.
I’ve followed you and read your blog for a long time and I love how your style has evolved as the seasons in your life have turned – from getting engaged, to being married, to becoming a mum. My life has followed similar beats and I guess it’s been comforting to see glimpses of real life alongside the beautifully put together outfits. In this season of life I’m into the comfy yet chic casual outfits, how tos on looking put together (when you don’t feel it) and the occasional fancy do (one can dream!). So thank you for all of these and more Jean!
Thank you so much, Amanda! I’m so grateful that you’ve followed along for so many years and really appreciate you taking the time to leave such an encouraging note. It’s always fun to hear from those who have been on a similar journey! So grateful for your continued support and sending you all my very best xx
