Uniqlo Petite-Friendly Try Ons

Uniqlo petite spring try ons

Over the years I’ve had several Uniqlo finds that become closet favorites (still wearing my oversized camel coat weekly!), and wanted to review a few more popular pieces I’ve tried on. You can see these looks in motion in my Instagram reel. If you’re new to the brand, Uniqlo is based in Japan and focuses on affordable, minimalist casual staples, and they also offer mens, kids and maternity!

Sizing + Alterations Service

Their sizing starts in xxs (online only), and I’ve found their skirts and pants fit me with no wiast gapping. As a major perk for fellow shorties, they also offer free hemming both in store and online for select pants over $20! If alterations are available for a piece you order online, the hem length options will be shown under the size selection. Just FYI, altered items become final sale.

1. Sleeveless Midi Dress (3 colors)

This dress in xxs fits as a “midaxi” on me (longer midi, almost maxi length). The waistline actually hits near my natural waist, and the upper is a smooth jersey fabric while the skirt is a more crisp poplin with pockets. It’s a casual fit on me, not very fitted, and is a solid everyday basic that can be dressed up or down.

2. Wide-Fit Pleated Pants (5 colors; alterations offered)

These viral pants keep popping up on my social media this year so I was excited to check them out! They’re made of an office-friendly, smooth stretch fabric with a classic subtly pleated design. For the under $50 retail price point plus free alterations (if needed), I think they’re a fantastic value.

I got these un-altered to show the original length on me but would prefer them to be 2″ shorter. In the outfit above I’m wearing them with my Sam Edelman heels. Compared to the A&F Sloane pants, the Uniqlo pant fabric has a slightly more professional feel to it and the legs feel more straight than wide.

Sizing: I first tried these in size xs (tag says 24-25 inch waist) and they were a tad loose on my 25” waist and hips. I then tried xxs (tag says 22-23 inch waist) which fits me snugly with no waist gap. I would say their pant sizing fits similarly to brands like A&F, and runs smaller than brands like LOFT / Ann Taylor.

Size xxs measures: 12.4″ across the waist when lying flat, 28″ inseam.

3. Linen Blend Wide Pants (5 colors; alterations offered)

Compared to the wide-fit trousers shown above, these linen-blend pants run a little shorter in length and work on me with very low heels. These have a tailored front and elastic in the back, similar in that aspect to the Z Supply Farah pants I’ve also featured. To compare, the Uniqlo linen pant fabric has more structure while the Farah pants are more casual with a wider leg and lighter-weight, flowier fabric.

Size xxs measures: 12.4″ across the waist when lying flat (has stretch), 27″ inseam.

4. AIRism Sleeveless Bra Top (5 colors)

Uniqlo is probably most known for their layering pieces in technical fabrics like AIRism (lightweight, breathable & moisture-wicking) and Heattech (insulating thermals) which I’ve mentioned many times before as my Fall – Spring under layer.

This AIRism Bra top is a comfortable basic when you don’t want to deal with a separate bra. I usually go with black since some reviews mention you might see the attached bra cups through the lighter colors.
