Seattle visit // Wedding at Deception Pass

Last month we took our first flight as a family of four to Seattle for my brother’s wedding! We absolutely love visiting the area – you can see my previous Seattle blog posts for some of our favorite activities and restaurants from past visits.

The wedding was at Deception Pass State Park (about an 1.5 hour drive from Seattle) which had beautiful hikes and lots of scenic spots for the bride and groom to take photos. There are rustic, log cabin picnic shelters with charcoal grills and wooden tables inside that you can call ahead to reserve and really transform for a special event. It was so different from any other wedding we’ve attended and such a memorable time!

I was stumped on what to wear for “garden casual” attire as the forecast was 50 degrees and rainy, plus there was a hike on the wedding day schedule. I decided on this loose maxi dress from Anthro and a sage green blazer for warmth. I was able to layer / fully hide a long sleeve shirt and my Zella leggings underneath, which made for a quick and easy outfit change, plus doubled as insulation in the brisk weather! See below for a few other gorgeous and unique Anthropologie dresses available in petite sizing:

For Nick, it was a no-brainer to pick something from his collection of ABC pants, which were pretty much made for versatile needs like this. He lives in the joggers at home (he goes 1 size up for the joggers), but the regular ABC pants were perfect for something that looks semi-dressy, yet moves and stretches comfortably like gym pants.

For the 3 mile hike, I knew my toddler would be like jelly 10 minutes in, so we brought this clever piggy back rider. Nori LOVED this contraption and it worked well for my more athletic teenage brother to carry her much of the hike. The gadget itself is small, lightweight, and easy to get in and out of. But I will say, for my personal level of fitness (and Nori being over 1/3 of my size), I can walk but not really hike easily with her on my back. For Rio, we used a Baby Bjorn baby carrier and he slept soundly through most of the outing!

My days of being a food blogger are over now with 2 food allergy kids whom I need to keep a watchful eye on! So no good foodie pics from this trip, but I loved brunch with the wedding group at Portage Bay Cafe. I’m usually underwhelmed by egg benedicts, but theirs (either bacon or crab benedict – you can’t go wrong) was amazing especially with the lemongrass hot sauce at the table. Several people also enjoyed the chilaquiles or french toast with their signature “toppings bar.”

We got our soup dumpling fix at Din Tai Fung (multiple locations) as they’re pretty good with food allergies. The Bellevue location next to the mall with a free kid’s indoor play area has saved us on several rainy days ever since Nori was a baby!

I couldn’t get my favorite Seattle Fish Guys this time as we stayed a bit far, but got my sushi fix through a new discovery Musashi’s where I went 2x in 1 week for their nigiri and chirashi bowl!

Congrats Ed & Julia!

My teen brother was MVP for hiking 2 miles with Nori on his back. Some serious legwork here!
